My Family

So it occurred to me that I constantly ramble on about my family, but I have never properly introduced them.

First up is the infamous fisherman. The undoubted absolute love of my life. Crazy, patient, loving and fishing mad, he really is the mint to my mojito. I am not ashamed to state (anonymously via my blog - ha-ha! He never reads it!) just how much I utterly and truly love him. Screw it - I know in this age of self-improvement and modern women blah blah blah - I should feel independent and a whole person separate to him. But I don't. Simply put, he completes me, and I cannot wait to be his wife.

The next member of my little family is the Queen of Sheba. She also answers to the name Lucy. On occasion, when it suits her. She came into our lives about four months ago and has changed the way I look at the world. She is gentle, she is loving and she is infinitely patient. With humans, only. With other dogs – she is a complete and utter bitch. She will growl and snap should they try to sniff her butt, horribly bad manners I’ve been told by the SA version of the dog whisperer we go to for training. In the spirit of transparency I feel I should clarify that the fisherman and I are the ones being trained, not Lucy. We adopted her from “the dog man” who rescues dogs on the cape flats. He looked after her amazingly and we are so grateful that he allowed us to take her.

The littlest member of our family of four is Oscar. He is a four month old Weimeraner (the same breed as queen Lucy) and we got him from a breeder, so he has impeccable lineage. Unfortunately, this doesn’t mean that his behaviour is impeccable. Quite the opposite – the fisherman and I feel that his abundance of blue blood has given him a licence to do every naughty thing he possibly can. From chewing bra’s and slippers to developing an insatiable taste for my snotty tissues. He is an insatiable eater and loves to sniff everything. He also suffers from allergies, just like his mama!

So YES - this is a "baby" pic of his. I couldn't resist - he's just too cute!!!

So these three plus me equal our little band of misfits. Together we are ready to take on the zombies J
