What have I been up to lately? Planning, planning, planning! The LO had his first birthday party. So obviously we (I) went balls to the wall with a Billy the Kid themed party. The fisherman now officially thinks I’m nuts – as if he didn’t know….

Brows and Threading

My eyebrows are right out of hand.

A few months ago I foolishly decided that my temperamental threading lady had seen the last of me. I opted instead to go to some dodgy hair salon where a just out of beauty school 19 year old proceeded to ooh and aah her way through my brows. I say through – because they were practically see-through once she was done. Suffice it to say, I have spent the last two months “growing them out”.

 They are now officially about 3000 hairs beyond where any amount of “growing them out” should ever have taken them. Which brings me to my current dilemma – where in Cape Town does one get one’s brows threaded? After asking around, I quickly realised that my crazy threading lady is the same crazy threading lady everyone else I know goes to – what is a girl to do? So I Googled it. I now have a 4:45pm appointment with a complete stranger called Laila at her home. What if I get sold into slavery? Well at least I’ll have great looking brows for a while.

Todays post is in honour of an awesome couple that just got engaged!
One of my brideslaves Miss Lee and her boyfriend have decided to take the plunge. Lucky me, now I get to be a bride and a brideslave. Lee and I are having totally different wedding styles. Where I am rustic, she is BLING! She puts the chic in my rustic chic. Her wedding colours are purple and white with lighting playing a huge role in creating the mood.

Here's my ode to purple, a wonderful colour for two amazing, fun, weird and totally insane friends. Cheers to you guys!

Confessions of a Shoe Ho

I love shoes as much as the fisherman loves fishing. ALOT.

So what better way to express my love than to wear the perfect pair(s) of heels on our big day? I've spotted and interesting trend in customising wedding shoes and its definitely something I am dying to try, all I need to do is find the perfect "canvas".

King Protea

What could possibly be more vintage South African than the amazing King Protea? A definite must have!
I love love love the softness of the colour palette! Soft pinks, greens and cream, add some gold for the glam factor and I am set!

Trendspotting: Doilies

Growing up I had one of those mothers who put a doily on EVERYTHING! From the toilet to the radio to the couch... Strangely enough she never actually made any of them, but I have two aunts who could possibly be the world champions in speed crocheting. I vaguely remember at the ripe old age of 5 declaring my life a doily free zone. I hated them with a passion! How on earth was I supposed to sit on tables if there was a damn doily making my arse slide off?

O how things have changed.

From fussy to vintage the Doily is making a comeback of note! And I think that they are just darling!
