What have I been up to lately? Planning, planning, planning! The LO had his first birthday party. So obviously we (I) went balls to the wall with a Billy the Kid themed party. The fisherman now officially thinks I’m nuts – as if he didn’t know….

Going Green

We have a window box in our garden, well more of a trough. It is filled with sand and some hydrangeas on one end. The other end looks crappy and its right under my kitchen window as luck would have it. I’ve contemplated planting flowers – but that just seems extremely complicated, and I’d have to water them… Some intensive research (I got a monthly email from Stodels) has revealed however that January is the perfect month for growing Basil and Parsley.

 

And since they both look a bit like weeds, how hard could they possibly be to grow? So I say – bring on the herb garden! Watch this space for pics.

The Photo Booth – Overexposed?

I love the photo booth concept. I saw the idea for the first time at a friends wedding last year, just before I got engaged and turned into bridezilla of the interweb. They took it really easy and simply dumped a bunch of props in a box and let people go wild. It worked and it really was fun.

Our wedding concept is very DIY vintage carnival (????) which means a photo booth will have to include the fake moustaches / glasses etc. Very cute, but is it going to date my day? And if it does – does it really matter? Maybe I’ve just been over thinking it and its time for me to take off the funny glasses and get back to the real business at hand. Planning a marriage.

Looking at all these AMAZEBALLS (yes, I just said that) options for a DIY backdrop, I can’t help but love it.

DIY Valentines Day

I've never been into the whole Valentines Day celebration, but over the past four years I've become a complete sucker... Soppy as it sounds, I blame the fisherman... for giving me someone to love...
Yes, that's how mushy my brain has become!

In V-days defence though, it has come a long way from the plastic red roses and white teddies grasping a red velvet heart. Below are some of the cute DIY's and printables I've found scouring the web.

First up I had to go with the traditional red, white and chocolate, but that's about all that's traditional about these funky chocolate bar wrappers:

Tell your man He da man, with these cute wrappers from Jeanne at Jeannewinters.com, I love the nutritional facts on the side - and I'm sure da fisher-man will too!

Alternatively, tell your honey how you feel with these cute speech bubbles, you could use them on a card or cut out in a photograph.

Trendspotting: Doilies

Growing up I had one of those mothers who put a doily on EVERYTHING! From the toilet to the radio to the couch... Strangely enough she never actually made any of them, but I have two aunts who could possibly be the world champions in speed crocheting. I vaguely remember at the ripe old age of 5 declaring my life a doily free zone. I hated them with a passion! How on earth was I supposed to sit on tables if there was a damn doily making my arse slide off?

O how things have changed.

From fussy to vintage the Doily is making a comeback of note! And I think that they are just darling!
